Well as sad is it is to say, the ospreys have left Scotland for another year heading for warmer climates in Africa. It has been a season that has seen poor spring weather take its toll on the breeding success rate yet a successful and enjoyable season watching the ospreys take fish from our new osprey pond. Every year Ospreys return to Scotland from Africa around early April. Rothiemurchus provides a rich source of fish for the ospreys to prey upon from height. Their precision dives into the water, eye-balling their prey from a birds-eye perspective, is a real honour to watch and is to say the least mesmerising!
You can come and enjoy this spectacle yourselves at our fishery. Whether a photographer, an avid follower or want to experience this for the first time we offer osprey watching and photography to match your needs.
We wish them all well and look forward to welcoming them back safely in 2013!
